Black History Art Exhibition Reception with Author, Marc Dollinger

Thursday, February 6  | 6:00 – 8:00pm

Speaker: Marc Dollinger, Author of Black Power, Jewish Politics: Reinventing the Alliance in the 1960s

Marc Dolinger interprets the alliance between Jews and blacks forged over the twentieth century.  His work describes a new political consensus, based on identity politics that drew blacks and Jews together and altered the course of American liberalism and history itself.

Featured artists are John Morris, Valeria Marcus, Wendy Medley and more. Live Jazz music featuring The Eddie Morgan Trio.

This program is in conjunction with the Holtzman Gallery’s annual African American Heritage Month exhibition at the Katz JCC.

This event is free and open to the entire community.

Black History Month Exhibit: February 5 through March 5

The Milton & Betty Katz Jewish Community Center along with The Holtzman Gallery celebrates Black History Month with a month long art exhibit titled Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future.  Artists showcased include Kelly Prevard, Valeria Marcus, Robert Threadgill, Maryilyn Winns Threadgill and Leonard Wilkinson.

Art Reception: Wednesday, February 22 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Enjoy live music and light refreshments. Special remarks from Bridge of Faith Members Rabbi Aaron Krauss from Beth El Synagogue and Reverend Collins A. Days from Second Baptist Church. Bridge of Faith is a group of Jewish, Christian and Muslim leaders and lay persons designed to provide a vehicle whereby people of faith and seekers of truth may reach across differences and cooperate in the pursuit of harmony, compassion and knowledge.
