MARGATE, NJ (November 1, 2017) – Senior Citizens age sixty (60) and older are invited to attend any of the eight free senior centers across Atlantic County. The centers, managed by The Milton & Betty Katz JCC, service over 7,000 senior citizens each month with a hot meal, socialization and various educational and recreational activities.
“The Senior Center Meal Sites offer a unique and important role for the community to service some of its most vulnerable citizens as well as those who are active adults looking to volunteer their time,” said Bridget Estrada, Senior Nutrition Meal Site Supervisor. “The JCC is excited to be integrally involved in meeting its core mission of helping meet the needs of the surrounding community,” Estrada added. Guests enjoy educational programming, Mahjong, Art Classes, Zumba, Bingo, Yoga, Line Dancing, Holiday Parties, Billiards, Ping Pong and local trips. “If you are home alone, don’t be. Come in and enjoy the things we do. We have a place to socialize, have lunch, play cards or bingo, take exercise classes and just relax and enjoy being with others,” said Hazel Michael, Egg Harbor Township Senior Center’s Site Council President. “I volunteer every day. This is a place where you make friends and enjoy seeing them each day,” Michael added.
There is no charge to participate; however, a $1.00 donation is requested to enhance the program. Free transportation is available.
