Katz JCC Hosts Jon Simon’s Boxx for Tots Toy Drive Now until December 22
Margate, NJ (December 12, 2017) – As the holidays approach, Professional Boxing Instructor and Personal Trainer, Jon Simon’s program “Boxx for Tots” begins the important task of collecting gifts for children and families within our area who are enduring financial burdens.
The Katz JCC invites you to help make the holidays brighter for these boys and girls. “We are happy to support Jon’s efforts in collecting toys for area children,” Chief Operating Officer of the Katz JCC Marg Rosenblatt said. “Regardless of race, religion or national origin, we aim to reach the entire community in any way we can. We hope the toys collected and distributed helps put a smile on many children’s faces.”
“Collecting toys through my boxing classes began fourteen years ago when I saw that the Toys for Tots collection program in my area was not getting the attention it deserved,” Simon said. “So instead of collecting my usual fee for the boxing class that year, I told my participants to bring in a toy for the kids – because every kid needs a new toy.”
Your donations will bring smiles to very special children as they feel the joy of the season made possible by your kindness and generosity. New unwrapped toy donations for a boy or girl (infant to 18 years old) can be brought to the Milton & Betty Katz JCC lobby, 501 N. Jerome Ave. in Margate. By donating a toy, the fee for Jon Simon’s boxing classes at the Katz JCC on December 19 and December 21 at 6:45pm and December 22 at 10:45am will be waived. Children ages 5 and above can also participate for free at a Tots For Tots Kidz Fit Class on December 20 at 4pm. Held in the JCC auditorium, music and special guest appearances will be featured during the holiday boxing classes.
According to Jon Simon, last year the event collected more than 6,000 toys for area children and were distributed to charities including Jewish Family Service, The Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS) of Atlantic County, Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church of Atlantic City, Northfield United Methodist Church, Hope for Atlantic City, Somers Point Methodist Church and directly to local families in need.
