Aquatics Reopening Guidelines

The following guidelines have been established to help ensure the health and safety of our members.

Lesson Scheduling: In accordance with CDC Guidelines and efforts to reduce the number of interactions during swim lessons, the sessions will be given two days a week, based on weekly sign ups.  Swimmers will meet with the same instructor each session for 20 minutes.   There will be a sanitized cleaning between all lessons.

Health Declaration: Members and JCC Staff will complete a health declaration before each visit confirming they are not experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or have been around someone who is infected.

Wearing of Facemask: Facemasks are required when in common areas including hallways and the JCC Main Lobby,  but not in the pool during the lesson.  Parents are required to keep facemasks on while watching the lesson.  Instructors will wear clear face coverings while in the pool.

Temperature Check: Members and JCC Staff will have their body temperatures taken upon entry to the JCC. Following CDC guidelines, those with a temperature greater than 100.4 will not be permitted to enter the JCC for 7 days.

Locker Rooms:  Locker rooms are currently open for restroom and changing use only. Please have your child/children wear their bathing suit to the JCC for their swim lessons.

Maintain Social Distancing: Please maintain a minimum of six feet from other members. Members are asked to respect the floor markings and building signage to ensure social distancing practices are being maintained.

Swim Team

Interested in Swimming with the Sharks?  The Margate Sharks Swim Team at the JCC is hosting evaluations for new and returning swimmers on August 15 and August 20 at 5pm. Children of all ages and levels are welcome to attend evaluations to determine whether competitive or recreational swimming would be best for them.

The Margate Sharks Swim Team competes in both Dual and USA Swimming meets during the season. The team is also a registered USA club and participates in USA meets whenever possible.

GROUP LESSONS

In a peer influenced environment, swimmers will be able to develop their strokes and master the fundamentals with a comprehensive and result driven program that stresses water safety. Beginning at the Tadpole (6 months to 2 years) and Minnow levels (2 to 3 years), a parent accompanies their child in the pool and introduces them to the water using conditioning, progressions and technique. Skill sets are required for each level before moving on to the next level. Other levels include Frogs, Seahorses, and Turtles.

Adaptive Swim Lesson

In partnership with FACES 4 Autism, the JCC now offers a specialized swim program designed to enhance the lives of children on the autism spectrum.
