Former Flyer Danny Briere Joins the JCC for Sports Night

During his six years with the Philadelphia Flyers, Danny Briere became a beloved figure in the community for his exploits on and off the ice.

The center may no longer wear the orange and black, following his buyout and subsequent signing with the Montreal Canadiens, but he still calls South Jersey home – and he plans to keep it that way.

On July 25, Briere gave back to his adopted community as a featured guest at the Jewish Community Center’s Sports Night fundraiser, saying he never misses an opportunity to pitch in for a good cause. [read more]

JCC Gala in Atlantic City Honors Ed Kline

The 250 people who turned out Sunday to honor Ed Kline, president of Galloway Township-based Kline Construction Co., served as a testament to how much South Jersey residents appreciate his charitable efforts.

The Milton & Betty Katz Jewish Community Center of Atlantic and Cape May counties, located in Margate, celebrated Kline’s philanthropic efforts during its annual gala at Chelsea Prime Restaurant in Atlantic City. The people who came to praise Kline, 65, of Margate, filled the restaurant and spilled outside of it.

The $70,000 raised was the highest gala amount ever generated, and that did not include money from a live jewelry auction. [read more]
