Full Day Kindergarten

Our full day Kindergarten program follows approved New Jersey curriculum standards and is staffed by certified kindergarten teachers.  Five- and six-year olds are eager students. The Katz JCC full day Kindergarten program will allow them to explore, investigate and discover the world around them in a safe and secure environment.

To best prepare your child for success throughout their school career, our curriculum follows a consistently progressive and comprehensive educational program including science and nature, social studies, fine arts and social and emotional development.

Our kindergarten literacy curriculum follows Macmillan and McGraw-Hill Letter Books, where kindergartners use beginning letter books to develop a basis for understanding letters as written symbols for spoken sounds. The curriculum integrates reading, handwriting, spelling, auditory, and oral language skills.

Our kindergarten Math curriculum is based on New Jersey HSP Math which is in alignment with State Standards. HSP Math was built to address the New Jersey State standards. It involves in-depth coverage for Kindergarten grade level standards the way they were intended to be taught.

We offer small classrooms sizes and low student-to-teacher ratios that allow our teachers to spend quality time with each child. Progress reports with assessment information are provided twice a year.

Unique to the Katz JCC Kindergarten program is our facility. We offer swim classes in our indoor pool which help children gain a healthy and safe relationship with the water, hands-on science classes in our nature room that inspire a nurturing curiosity and a full-size gymnasium for an actively open environment.

“Today, we received news from Lauren’s first grade teacher the she was fully prepared for first grade. In fact, she was placed in one of the more advanced reading groups. She is also doing exceptionally well in math. Her teacher mentioned her strong leadership qualities. Needless to say, we are thrilled and wanted to share the news with you since we always viewed her preschool and kindergarten years at the JCC as a collaborative effort between us, you and her teachers. She clearly has a wonderful foundation for a love of school and we look forward to her continuing to thrive.” -Amy Barron.
