The Milton & Betty Katz JCC is committed to enhancing the quality of family life,
and to promoting the physical, intellectual and spiritual wellness of the individual,
by offering a wide variety of programming that is largely Jewish in nature.
The Early Childhood department teaches children about the importance and relevance of all major Jewish
holidays through mediums such as art projects, stories and song. The JCC has adopted the Ethical Start
curriculum that uses various mishnas (Jewish texts) to teach preschool children Jewish values and morals.
The Ethical Start program helps teach our children valuable Jewish lessons that transcend all religious and
moral lines - like how to play well with others, how to make others feel included, and how to be strong inside.
Youth programs at the Katz JCC have Judaism and Israel as its main focus.
The JCC Camp By The Sea, now in its 65th summer, brings four Shlichim (Israel Counselors) to our community to help
teach the 550 campers about Israel culture, songs, dance, food, customs and more! Home hospitality for these schlichim
help connect the community to Israel through personal contact with the Israelis themselves. Camp incorporates
Israel/Jewish program into its busy curriculum – culminating in a Camp-wide Israel Day where children make humus
& pita, visit a Bedouin tent, shop at the Camp shuk and learn about the plight of Gilad Shalit. In addition, every year
great performers such as the Tzofim Israel Friendship Scouts, Jewish Rock Bands and Middle Eastern Drumming
Workshops enhance the program and camper’s connection to Israel and their Jewish roots.
Teens at the Katz JCC can participate in Project Gesher, a leadership training program that takes Jewish teens in our
community (as well as other JCCs in NJ) to visit teens in Atlantic County’s Partnership 2000 community of Arad/Tamar.
The Adult and Senior department offers numerous chances for individuals to connect to their Jewish roots with a Jewish
Film Series, Jewish Author Series and a Festival of the Arts – focusing on Jewish comedians and performers such as the
Grammy Award winning Klezmatics and Yitzak Pearlman.
Many social programs including JCC Brunch and Learn, Our Dinner & Movie Series, Mahjong brunches and more - enable
Jewish adults and seniors to gather, schmooze and learn from great teachers in our community and beyond.
Holidays are a chance for the JCC to serve as the Center point of the Jewish Community. Every year the Katz JCC works
with other Jewish agencies in Atlantic County to create a community Chanukah program, Purim Festive Meal, A Passover
Dinner Event and Israel Independence Day Celebration.
The Katz JCC provides health-related activities and cultural and educational programs that reflect the Jewish heritage.
Through its wide array of programs, the Katz JCC pursues its mission of strengthening the individual, family and Jewish community.
