Remy Pelosi, Fitness Director
Remy Pelosi approaches her position as Fitness Director at the J the same way she does everything else in life, with enthusiasm. With more than 10 years of expertise in the fitness industry, this pint-sized powerhouse is an athlete with a passion for health and fitness. In her capacity as Fitness Director she oversees the fitness floor’s daily operations including equipment and staffing as well as directing the JCC’s personal training program.
Remy has earned certifications in personal training, yoga, Tabata Bootcamp, Pumpin’ Iron, Cardio Kickboxing, Piloxing and youth fitness. She relishes the opportunity to work with individuals of all ages to create a training program specific to each client’s needs and abilities. She incorporates her experience as a fitness industry professional into her training style, embracing a wide variety of routines to keep programs fresh and clients motivated. Remy earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Vermont, where she competed on the collegiate snowboard team. She also earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Villanova University.
Remy’s affinity for the Milton & Betty Katz JCC is a lifelong one and her connection to the entire JCC experience runs deep. She has been a JCC member since the age of two, attending the JCC’s Early Childhood Education Center through preschool. She learned how to swim, participated in gymnastics and other competitive sports at the J. In her teens and early twenties Remy served as a camp counselor for the JCC’s Camp By The Sea and became a gym regular thereafter. She resides in Margate with her husband and daughter.

Lawrence began his boxing and personal training career in 2008. He has tailored his personal training style to one that stretches the average workout into an intense, self-defense, calorie-burning, muscle- building “total package” workout that provides optimal results. He has experience working with a variety of age groups from children as young as 10 to adults in their 60s. Lawrence’s proven expertise and his “total package” approach have helped athletes and gym goers achieve real results. With a focus on technique, breathing, flexibility and mental awareness while performing aerobic and functional-based movements, Lawrence’s workout is designed to maximize and control physical outcomes.
Lawrence’s specialties include boxing and self-defense coaching; group and one-on-one technique coaching; focus mitts and combination punching; as well as functional boxing exercises and group exercise. Lawrence has earned several impressive titles through athletic competition including Tournament of Champions Diamond Gloves in 2001 and 2002, NY/NJ Golden Gloves in 2001 and 2002, and NJ State Champion in 2004. Lawrence has earned certifications in Nesfa PT, Les Mills Body Pump, and Tabata Bootcamp.
Donna has been working in the health and fitness industry professionally since 1987. During this time she has amassed a wide variety of experience, certifications and specialties within the field. She holds certifications for both land and water-based personal training programs. She is a nationally certified Master Water Fitness Instructor and is qualified to certify aquatic instructors through the USWFA.
Donna holds certifications in several specific areas of fitness programs including aerobics, weightlifting, cycling, yoga, meditation, Pilates (mat work and reformer), CPO, CPR, First Aid, and massage therapy. She also serves as the JCC’s in-house massage therapist. In addition, she has attained group exercise certification from the Aerobics and Fitness Association of American (AFAA), and is certified through the American Aerobics Association International (AAAI). Donna also earned an Associates degree in Applied Science and Bachelors of Science degree in Exercise Physiology.
Donna possesses significant knowledge and experience in working with special populations. When meeting Donna, you immediately realize she has a sincere passion for the fitness field and displays a genuine concern for the overall health and well-being of her clients. Most of all, she has a great sense of humor, enthusiastic personality, and energetic spirit.
Peggy brings more than 10 years experience as a personal trainer and is certifications in indoor cycling and senior adult fitness to her position at the JCC. An avid runner, Peggy has competed across the country in 36 marathons and over 100 half marathons. She proudly and consistently finishes in the top five of her age group. In addition to her work at the JCC, Peggy serves as a certified track official for local high schools.
Peggy resides in Margate where she has happily raised her three children.
Kelly has worked in the fitness, health and wellness industry for over 30 years. She began her career teaching aerobics classes while growing up in Florida before relocating to Massachusetts. Upon graduating from the College of the Holy Cross she continued to study, earn numerous certifications, and share her knowledge of fitness while working in health clubs, senior centers, aquatic centers, corporate health facilities, park and recreation programs and her own home studio.
In 2007, Kelly founded Every Body Balance, Metro West Boston’s premier and largest Pilates, yoga, private training, Barre, and Core Training fitness studio. Based on applied functional science, she developed the Total Body Control Method of training which she taught and employed at her studio for nearly ten years.
Kelly is most passionate about the physical therapy aspect of training. Her main goal is that each client experiences a better quality of life through pain free range of motion, through modification of any exercise, or design a new variation to fit her clients’ needs and to help them achieve or exceed their fitness goals.
Kelly resides in Egg Harbor Township with her husband and family. Her hobbies include weight training with her son, swimming laps, biking, paddle boarding, jet skiing and playing with her two dogs, Magnum and Bella.
Jon Simon has been working in the fitness industry for over 18 years. Jon holds certifications from ACSM, ISSA as well as through the YMCA. Additional certifications include kettle bells, CPR and First Aid. Jon works with clients of all ages and fitness levels. He also works with various businesses on team building exercises, fitness classes for area schools, sports team training, and mentoring programs.
Jon created the charity known as Boxx for Tots, a holiday toy drive which collects new toys for families in need throughout Atlantic County. Developing Boxx for Tots, has afforded him the opportunity to work with and augment the efforts of several local charitable organizations and agencies including but not limited to DYFS, Atlantic County Women’s Shelter and Gilda’s Club.
As a boxing coach and trainer, Jon has worked with athletes from amateur to professional levels, while allowing him to travel the world.
Greg Troast has been a personal trainer with the JCC since 2006. He previously worked as a law enforcement officer for the Atlantic City Police Department. In 1992 he obtained certifications with the State of New Jersey as a Fitness and Aerobics Instructor and Trainer at the Cooper Institute of Aerobics. Greg spent 10 years as a Fitness Trainer for the Atlantic County Police Academy. He also served as a Titleist Performance Instructor in Golf Movement in 2012. He currently lives in Northfield with his wife and son.
