Bernadette Ritzel Poyas

Bernadette Ritzel Poyas is excited to be joining the JCC team as the new Wellness Coordinator for the Live Long Live Strong Program. She is a twice national champion rower, an outdoor wilderness guide, Olympic distance triathlete and is certified as a Yoga Instructor and Personal Trainer. Bernadette has traveled and taught yoga in the United States and abroad, filming an action adventure sports television series for the Travel Channel in New Zealand as well as producing a health and fitness radio show in New York City. She is passionate about sharing her love for exercise and leading a healthy lifestyle with others. Bernadette is also a mother of two young boys and dedicated to educating people in achieving good health and wellness at every age.

Donna Innis

Donna has been working in the health and fitness industry professionally since 1987. She
managed three Atlantic City Hotel/Casino health spas for seventeen years. Donna possesses a vast depth of knowledge and experience in working with special populations. She holds certifications in personal training (on land and in the water). She is a Nationally certified Master water fitness instructor and coordinator of water fitness programs. Donna can certify aquatic instructors through the USWFA. She is certified to create customized corporate programs. She holds certifications in aerobics, weightlifting, cycling, yoga, meditation, pilates mat work and reformer, CPO, CPR, First Aid, and massage therapy. She is also our very own in house massage therapist! In addition, she is certified through AAFA, AAAI, and IDEA. Donna also holds an Associate’s degree in Applied Science and BS Degree in Exercise Physiology. She has performed professionally as a vocalist, dancer, musician, and dance and fitness choreographer. She has on camera commercial training and has created and produced her own fitness aerobics videos. When meeting Donna you immediately realize she has a sincere passion for the fitness field and displays a genuine concern for the overall health and well-being of her clients. Most of all, she has a great sense of humor, enthusiastic personality, and energetic spirit


Greg Troast

Greg Troast

Greg Troast has been a Personal Trainer with the JCC since 2006. He previously worked as a law enforcement officer for the Atlantic City Police Department. In 1992 he obtained certifications with the State of New Jersey as a Fitness and Aerobics Instructor and Trainer at the Cooper Institute of Aerobics. Greg spent 10 years as a Fitness Trainer for the Atlantic County Police Academy. He also served as a Titleist Performance Instructor in Golf Movement in 2012. He currently lives in Northfield with his wife and son.


Jon Simon

Jon Simon

Jon Simon has been working in the fitness industry for over 18 years. Jon holds certifications from ACSM, ISSA as well as through the YMCA. Additional certifications include kettle bells, CPR and first aid. Jon works with clients of all ages and fitness levels. Jon also works with various businesses on team building exercises, fitness classes for area schools, sports team training, and mentoring programs. Jon created the charity known as “Boxx for Tots”. Working on Boxx for Tots, has afforded Jon the opportunity to work with many local charities including but not limited to DYFS, Atlantic County Women’s Shelter and Gilda’s Club.

As a boxing coach and trainer, Jon has worked with many athletes from amateur to professional levels while also allowing him to travel the world.


Josh Nockowitz

Josh grew up in Northfield and attended Mainland High School. He is a natural athlete and played baseball, basketball, and lacrosse. Before moving back to the area, he lived in Florida to pursue a fitness career where he managed a Fitness Center outside of Miami for two years. Josh is a certified personal trainer and holds a certification from World Fitness Association and looks forward to helping members look and feel healthier. His training styles are based around weight loss, muscle building, toning, and nutritional diet plans. He has extensive experience in senior mobility and stresses client safety in all his training sessions.


Lawrence Crespo

Lawrence Crespo

Lawrence began his boxing and personal training lifestyle in 2008. He has tailored his personal training style to one that stretches the average workout into an intense, self-defense, calorie-burning, muscle building “total package” workout that provides optimal results. He has experience working with a variety of age groups from children as young as 10 to adults in their 60s. He is well-trained in boxing and self-defense and his “total package” approach has helped athletes and gym goers achieve real results. With a focus on technique, breathing, flexibility and mental awareness while performing aerobic and functional based movements Lawrence’s workout is designed to maximize and control physical outcomes. Lawrence specializes in boxing and self-defense coaching, group and one-on-one technique coaching, focus mitts and combination punching, functional boxing exercises and group exercise. Some of his achievements are impressive including Tournament of Champions Titles 2001 & 2002 “Diamond Gloves,” 2001 & 2002 “NY/NJ Golden Gloves,” 2004 “NJ State Champion” and he had currently received recognition as the 2012 Professional Boxing Journeyman. He is certified in Nesfa PT, Les Mills Body Pump and Tabata Bootcamp.


Remey Pelosi

Remy Pelosi

Remy Pelosi has been a member of the JCC since she was two years old and worked as a Camp By The Sea counselor for many years. Remy earned her BA in psychology at the University of Vermont, where she competed on a snowboard team. She also has a law degree from Villanova University. Remy became a certified yoga and kickboxing instructor in 2006 and has been teaching yoga at the JCC ever since. She continued her yoga training at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, New York. Remy studied Jivamukti, Kundalni and Vinyasa styles of yoga. She incorporates her own athletic experience onto her hands–on style of yoga. Remy is also a certified Pumpin’ Iron instructor at the JCC. Remy currently plays flag football on the Jersey Shore Powder Puff League in Somers Point, NJ. She resides in Margate, NJ with her husband Mike and their daughter Maren.


Sandy-Josephs

Sandy Josephs

Sandy Josephs is both a Certified Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor. She is also trained in Functional Movement Screening (FMS) and has her Hardstyle Kettlebell Certification (HKC). Sandy was first attracted to the health and wellness field by observing the client results produced by the fitness staff at the JCC. Upon obtaining her certifications, she truly gained an understanding for the correlation between the mental and physical aspects of fitness. There is nothing more rewarding to her than helping her clients gain and maintain a wholesome and healthy lifestyle. Along with the JCC group exercise classes and personal training sessions that she runs, Sandy currently teaches Seniorcize classes at the Ventnor Meal Site, which is a location that provides a hot meals and engaging programs for 50-70 seniors each day through supervision from the JCC. Sandy resides in Ventnor with her husband and son, Ryan.


Victoria Lisa

Victoria Lisa

For Victoria, wellness has always been a passion. She has dedicated the majority of her pursuing many aspects of the field. After graduating Valedictorian from Von Lee International in 1993, Victoria began practicing dermatological skin care and ultimately became the sole proprietor of a small day spa. In 1994, she received certification from ACCC in Sports and Nutrition and Personal Fitness Training. Educating clients on the importance of nutrition, fitness, the fact that we are what we eat, and the way our bodies respond accordingly. In 1995, Victoria began studying numerous modalities of massage therapy as well as the health benefits association with bodywork. She ultimately received a board of Nursing Message License in the state of New Jersey, and recognition from the Thai institute Of Philadelphia on levels 1and 2 for Thai massage. Today, Victoria practices integrated Table and Thai massage as well as Personal Fitness Training, helping to educate clients on the importance of balance mentally, physically, and spiritually.
