Raising Funds for a Community Playground

Image 36MARGATE – The Milton & Betty Katz JCC Early Childhood Education Center Parent Committee is excited to announce the return of its successful Ladies Night Out Shopping Extravaganza on Thursday, November 13 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Katz JCC auditorium, 501 N. Jerome Avenue, Margate.

Guests will enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and music while they shop the more than 50 vendors and enjoy a 20-minute fashion show bringing the fashions of Paris, New York and Madrid right to Margate, NJ.

“We have had such success with this event we wanted to host it twice a year for the ladies in our community,” according to Event Chairman Laurie Staller. “We have even added some great new features such as babysitting service, increased sponsorship exposure, significant basket raffles and a second floor of vendor booths.”

The mission of the event is not only to bring women together for a great night of fun but also raise awareness and funds for the Katz JCC Early Childhood Education Center.

To date, the Ladies Night Out events have raised close to $13,000 for the new community playground, according to Staller.

“The total cost of the community playground is $48,000. We hope to at least be to the half-way point following our November event,” Staller said.

A community build is planned for the Spring of 2015 when parents of the community will be the labor force behind building the playground.

“It’s a way to involve everyone in improving the education of the children,” she said. “We are hoping to partner with area businesses to raise the remainder of the funds needed to complete the playground for the Spring of 2015.”

The Katz JCC Early Childhood Education Center is open to everyone and offers full- and half-day programs with extended hours from infants through kindergarten.Morning care hours are now starting at 6:30 a.m.

Tickets for the event are $20 per person in advance and $30 at the door and include one drink ticket.

Vendor pricing begins at $100.
